Audi North Shore---Style Has Changed
The German automaker Audi has come up with some ingenious ideas on vehicle design throughout the years, and Audi continues to impress the global community with more changes in style. Back in the early 1920's Audi designed a left-hand drive vehicle and was the first German automobile maker to accomplish such a feat. Audi named this vehicle the Type K. This automobile gave the driver an advantage in that enabled the driver to obtain a good view of the road ahead of them and any traffic that may have been approaching. By the mid 1920's a vehicle by the name of the Horch 303 Berlin came into the picture. This was an eight-cylinder vehicle that hit the mass production lines at a rapid rate. By 1931, a four wheel drive vehicle was introduced by the company. The DKW two stroke engine gives way to a wood style body, and imitation leather on the interior portion of the vehicle.
Front wheel drive automobiles came about in 1933. The first one was showcased at the Berlin Motor Show. Audi has also been known for its racing cars. The first kind of racing car was developed in 1934. The sixteen-cylinder engine could be found right behind the driver, giving the vehicle greater versatility and excellent handling control. In fact, Audi produced some of the finest racing vehicles in the world. The Auto Union car was developed by the mid to late 30's. This vehicle had an outstanding 545 horsepower, which allowed it to excel beyond 400 km/h under normal road surfaces. When World War II broke out, Audi began to produce vehicles for the military, but normal production resumed after the war when more innovative types of vehicles came about after a new company (Auto Union GmbH) was established. Convertible style vehicles and the infamous DKW Meisterklasse 89 P were just a few of the more famous models. Eventually Volkswagenwerk AG took over Auto Union GmbH, and Audi saw a change in style here with the elimination of the two stroke engine that had been seen in previous models.
By the late 1960's, Audi produced a big time seller, which launched them into upper mid-size class market for the first time. The Audi 100 was released, and this immediately became an instant seller overnight. The early 70's brought about even more positive change to Audi when the Audi 80 was released. This automobile had a four cylinder OHC engine, and was very popular among the Volkswagen group. Numerous models were sold over the years. Audi even answered the energy crisis of the 70's when the Audi 50 hit the market. This was a smaller size vehicle that did not guzzle nearly as much gas as some other models from different manufacturers. As time moved forward, Audi has continued to design better made vehicles built out of stronger materials and more fuel efficient options for consumers during our current age of global warming. Contemporary models include the Audi A3, the A4, the A5, the A6, along with the Audi Q5 and TT lineup. There are even more Audi style vehicles available, but only a few have been mentioned here.
